Your diesel is also "alternative fuel ready" without modification. Ask them if their's are. You can run biodiesel when it becomes readily available without modification. Also, modern diesels pollute the air far less than comperable gas engines and do so burning a less refined fuel.
Guy at work had some negative comments about my recent purchase. My reply was:
Americans are born, raised and die in their vehicles. And I don't care what kind of mileage they get.
Anyone else face this kind of BS?
I figure, it's my money; I'll spend it anyway I like!
The great thing about America………..we can have different opinions…and voice them anytime anywhere to anyone.
Do not worry about it, sort of like boxer of briefs. It is a matter of choice your money your choice. I have had this very thing happen, asked them if they eat Salmon sandwiches with catsup on raisin bread. They give me this stupid look like deer in the headlights……….then I just walk off.
Again.......choice!
I want a big sticker that says "ULEV" on it right below the blue oval on my tailgate. I think it would be very appropriate, since my EGR is unhooked, my converter is gone, and my superchips dumps fuel like no tomorrow. They would get to see the sticker right before i black out the intersection with smoke.
My brother gives me grief about SUV's all the time. He says mine is okay because I use it like a "real" SUV by my off road, hunting and fishing. I just smile and say, "Uh huh".
or you could just tell them to kiss your >>> (I know, family site) and get out of your way or you may run over them. oh, and tell them not to park around you. may not see them and run over them, thinking that someone left a coke can in front of your tire.
It's my understanding that the process of making batteries for electric vehicles if more polluting than the typical engine. Also, hydrogen fuel cell technology is not all it's cracked up to be. I remember hearing that the cheapest way to produce the hydrogen is very bad for the environment.
Most people are stuck in the past with diesels. In the past they were much worse for the environment than gas engines, but that is no longer the case. Diesel technology has advanced more in the past 10 years by far than gas engine technology.
my $02: Maybe if GM didnt use gas blocks back in the 70's-early 80's ppl wouldnt have a bad (and at times misinformed) opinion of a diesel. maybe more woulda been bought (enought were then!) and {inhaling illegal tobacco..}, American automakers might have put more effort and $$ into diesel research with some of that money. maybe? stay safe, jimmy
