Throttle Response...Again

I'm sure this topic is getting old...but here goes. I have a 4.6L Supercab. I brought it to the dealer and told him that it was kind of sluggish. I told him that I saw something on the web about getting the computer reflashed to improve the response. He said he would check it for me. I brought it in and he told me that I had the latest program in it. He said these trucks weren't made for 0 to 60, they were made for towing. I have the 3.55 rear end, and I did not buy the towing package. What should I expect out of my truck? Should I go to another dealer? If so, what should I tell them? I pulled out of a car wash the other day with wet tires. It is on the corner so it was at a red light. When it turned green, I stomped it and it wouldn't even spin the tires. What would you guys do?

Unfortunately there's not a lot you CAN do right now. I just got my 4.6 reflashed to the latest update and the throttle lag is still there. I'm not even so concerned about the 0-60 speed but I when I stomp on the pedal I want it to go, not wait a second and then go. Perhaps if enough people complain Ford will do something about it.

Seems like the program for the 5.4L is better than that for the 4.6 currently. But the good news is you can take it in and get it reflashed for free for the first 3 years. My dealer says to check in every 6 months to see if a new program has been downloaded. From there it's a relatively easy process to reprogram. Or so he said.

Throttle lag, no fix yet

Working for Ford, I've noticed this lag everyone is talking about. How ever most of it is caused by the "fly by wire" (no throttle cable) setup. it is very noticable on the new 6.0 Diesels. This is a new feature I think I'll end up seeing a lot of. And in most cases I've replaced a lot of Throttle body's due to fault codes, etc..

If something comes in I'll be sure to post the fix.

The lag is somewhat intentional. Especially in 4x4s. If you have ever tried to tip-toe up a hill with anything larger than a jeep having a light throttle can keep you from either stopping, breaking or rolling. Also it kind of keeps you in check on the highway and helps some with gas milage by having a lag you arent "overdriving" the truck. also the dealer is right in one aspect, its not for 0-60 (sans lightning) its for hauling and yes the hemi has a nice snappy throttle response but it gets it but kicked towing. Smooth and steady wins the race in that case.

My truck suffers from "throttle lag" most of the time. Especially when attempting to change lanes and pass a car on the freeway. But when I drop my kids off at school and hit the pedal it starts spinning/squeeling the tire like mad. Not the reaction I want in a school zone. It's like it knows and it's just messing with me. Totally inappropriate for each situation.
