i will soon get rid of the crossover tube on my 59' w/292 c.i. motor.to my dismay, upon purchasing a nice set of blasted and resurfaced manifolds was told that they would give me clearance problems since they are probably off a car.is this right?were the rams horns the only manifolds used to provide duals on our trucks?i dont want to put headers on, but might have to rethink my position when i consider rams horn prices.if there are other manifolds that would fit ,does anyone have part numbers?p.s.-don't want to do that funky setup of blocking right crossover hole, then doing a"whoopty-do" from front on left side manifold down pipe.thank you gentlemen in advance.
Hey Buz, there was a similar thread a few weeks back. Do a search, but I think they concurred that the rams horns were necessary to get the clearance. John
thanks, red jag.it's not the news i wanted to hear, but the truth sometimes hurts!now all i have to do is let my wife know i made yet another unecessary purchase...
Ram horn's or headers. You can take the passenger side car manifold and run it backwards on the driver's side so it still exit's up front, but turns down for a more gentle pipe bend for duals(all this while running either a capped off truck manifold on the passenger side or yet another passenger side car manifold on the passenger side), do you still follow me? I may be able to dig a pic up. -4speed
