I have a 02/f-250 PSD/7.3 and have a question about the wait to start.
Is there a emblem on the instrument panel that lights up or should the words "WAIT TO START" light up. I can't seem to get an answer at the dealership. I don't have the the words light up so I thought there might be
an emblem.
Not sure about 2002, but on my 2000, the words "Wait To Start" light up in yellow on the right-hand side of the instrument cluster for a few seconds.........
On my '99 f-350 PSD it has a "Wait to Start" also on the right hand side of the instrument panel. I think your dealership is trying to get out of working on your truck. Otherwise how will you know when your glow plugs are warmed up enough to start?
Just my $.02 worth.
herndo, the 2002 models do not have the old "Wait to start" indicator. They have an light indicator that comes on when you move the ignition switch forward. The indicator looks like a coil and will come on in the left hand side of the instrument panel. It will appear for about 10-15 seconds depending on how hot the engine is. It will only appear briefly when the engine is hot.
Thanks very much for the info Oneof6. I do have that coil symbol on
the upper left of instrument panel. A salesman at the Truck lot told me
that also, but just wanted to make sure. The lots Diesel Mechanic didn't
even know this!
Again Thanks
