Tire Recommendations
Hello All. I became a PSD owner (1997 F250 7.3L, 4X4) about a year ago. This is my first deisel and absolutely love it. The FTE forum's have provided outstanding information for a deisel newbie.
I need to re-shoe my PSD and was looking at the Cooper Dominator Sport AT/LT, LT265/75R-16E. I've looked at BFG's, Michelin's, Toyo's, Firestone, and miscellaneous no name brands as well. All in all the Cooper's seem to have a good price, warranty, and load range as compared to the others. I'm towing a 25ft. trailer, but will switch to a 5th wheel soon. I also haul anything I can whenever I can like wood, furniture, and gravel. Has anyone used the Cooper Dominator and what is your experience with them. Any other rec's would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I'd go with the Coopers. I've got a set of Discoverers on my truck right now, my dad has run them on his farm trucks for the past 5+ years and have had no problem with them. They have great traction (depends on the tire you get), normally wear well for the use they get, and are priced cheaper than most. I can't say that we have every had anything wrong with any of them, and that's for farm use. The tires on my truck are wearing a little faster than I would like, but I do a lot of highway driving and it's a heavier truck than anything else we have, so that'll probably make it worse compared to our other trucks.
That tire looks well suited for your use with the big trailer. The load range E tires should handle anything you throw at them.

If I'm not too late I would suggest you check out the tirerack.com site. It has great comparison data on tires. The ratings there convinced me and I just went to a set of Bridgestone Dueler Revo ATs. Stock size E with a weight rating of 3415lbs. I pull a 14K lb 5er with a short bed 250 and upgrading the rear tires and springs helps a lot. So far the Revos are great. They make the truck handle noticably better than the stock Firestone Steeltex. Haven't towed yet though. I got great mileage from the Firestones, 57K when I changed. More than half that was towing the 5er and I would guess I could have gotten another 5000 but I'm going on a long trip and wanted to start on fresh tires. In fact I put new steeltex on my 5er.

StanleyZ: I'm going to purchase the tires in the next week or so. I'll check out the website. I've looked at the Bridgestone Dueller's and liked their capabilities. I'll check out the website and make a decision soon. I'm still leaning towards the Cooper's though. I haven't heard anything bad about them, and the responses I've read have been positive.
Thanks for the info

The Coopers are good tires. Ran 265/75s on my 97 250 4X4 for 55000 miles about 15000 with an 8000 lb. trailer. Still had some tread left but wanted to go bigger. Be sure you specify you want load range E because Cooper offers 265/75s in D and E. What ever you decide on make sure you keep up on your tire rotation because the TTB frontend tends to be hard on front tires.
