I found a 391 at the junkyard in my small town. Its missing intake and carb. I can grab it at no cost.
Im wondering if its worth anything, like to rebuild it, or if ya can get any kinda serious power out of it. Id just like some info on it if possible.
Im probly going to grab it anyway just for a learning experience, ive never torn apart a motor before.
THanks
Its just a tiny little junk yard, only opened once a month, Its not going anywhere, i only told one guy about it and he's a toyota boy. That place is full of ford boys too, so probly better i didnt tell anyone. Only 2 guys id worry about yankin it already have motors they got ready to swap too.
Long, the 391 FT will have a much larger snout on the end of the crank, the blocks frequently ( but not always ) have thicker cylinder walls, and can be bored to 428 size more safely than the average 360/390 block. The big 8 qt oilpan underneath it is neat to have as well. DF, at his Dad's house
Unless you know someone who can do that for ya, then it wont cost much.
I thought it would be kinda neat to have, interesting to see how good of shape its in as well.
could always sell the crank to someone who really wants it, as well eh.
anyway, gotta get back to the hockey game !!
