burnin oil

Hi all ,great site,I just picked up a 1993 ranger with a 2.3 in it, five speed, After i started it up i knew i had a problem,Its bangin like i droped a pushrod and burnin oil , Ihave not tore in to it yet or checked the compresson on it yet i thought i would get some feed back, thanks, marvoles, PS. if i find bad news what motors may i drop in it,. Thanks again

Is the fan hitting the shroud????

If it comes down to changing the engine, stick with the 2.3. Unless you get a complete donor truck with a 3.0 or 4.0, the "all the needed parts" routine could give you a major headache.

Good News

i took the head off and found that the gasket was blown in between 1-2 so i guess that was why there was no compresson there ,3 and 4 there was 120 so hope fully the gasket will take care of it ,
