There was a problem with the pan gaskets coming apart inside the pan, and clogging the oil pump intake. Check the pressure with a real gauge before there is a failure, lots cheaper than replacing the crank & bearings. The dash gauge is faked by a resistor in series with an on-off switch on the side of the engine. The switch closes at 5psi, and sends ground thru the resistor to the gauge. The gauge moves to mid position based on the 'resisted' ground reading. Somewhere there is an article on how to make the gauge work using older sending unit and bypassing the resistor.
BUT, check for true pressure with a mechanical gauge, just to be safe.
