i asked a friend who is a mechanic about changin the transmision fluid. he siad that i shoudl have a shop do it cus if i get dirt in it i coudl ruin the transmision. is this true or is it alrite if i change it my self?
Here is a link to an article in the tech articles about how to change your fluid, you can do it yourself. If your truck is really dirty, take it to the carwash first and blast all of the areas where you will be working, trans, cooling lines. Make sure you use the right fluid and filter for your trans. Get a rubber gasket.
