engine ID
I have what I was told is a 351 W out of a ford van but I'm not sure the guy really has a clue.I can't find any data and the funny thing is that the closest thing I have found indicates a 400!Can anyone help me with these #'s they are the block casting #'s from behind the starter.DIAE-6015-DA14 and underneath that are the #'s 1F21.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Patrick
the 1 is for the year 1971
the A stands for the type of vehicle it went in in this case fullsize
the E stands for where it was warehoused
you have a 1971 and if it's a Windsor the valve covers are squarish in appearance and have 6 bolts while the 400 is physically a much larger motor with valve covers that are rounded on top and have I believe 8 bolts.
I knew it wasn't a 400 but the guy I bought it from gave me a printout that was totally off.Obviously he had not even looked it over either!I bought the motor and a c 6 as a unit and was told that they came out of a late model van. After I posted I finally found a site with the correct info so either he was being a little dishonest or it had been put in the van by a previous owner.Either way They are both doing great in my truck.
Thanks,
Patrick
