smoke when start, high idle, HELP....
My 99 F150 just started doing this after I got back from a long road trip. Its a 4.6v8, 4x4 5spd with 85000 miles. When I start it, I will get what sounds like lifter tick or like when it starts just after you change the oil. Then it will puff out some very distinct BLUE smoke and will idle at 1000 to 1500 RPM. When I drive it, shifting between gears, it will hold its idle at driving speed inbetween shifts, i.e. 2000 rpm with the clutch pushed in. Eventually it will drop down 800 or 900 rpm, maybe after 20 or 30 seconds.
I have already changed the oil myself and put back in 10w30 and put a real american made oil filter on it.
Any clues ? I know its not the oil or filter, I am looking for a sensor or other problem.

correction: whitish smoke more than blue. Smells awful, not like burning oil. I took the air intake apart, cleaned the MAF sensor, throttle body and the silver sensor mounted off to the driver side that has 2 rubber hoses connected it had 1 rubber hose plugged full of corrosion. I cleaned that up as well. when I put it all back together, it now idles higher that it did. I will order and change the IAC sensor tuesday.
