Tune up?

I have a minor miss (like a bad wire or plug). What can I do to try to fix this, or is this normal for a diesel? The truck is a 99 F 350 7.3 Thanks

Sounds like maybe another Camshaft Position Sensor? Ordering mine after the weekend from International for $85.90. Look up the searches on CPS and see if it relates to the problem you have. I also have the '99 PSD. (sig)
Any other ideas anyone?

Just at Idle, so Around 700 or so.
The previous owner said he had the CPS replaced already. He said it died out on the freeway Could I need another? The truck has 57000.

It's possible that you need anothe cps, but a more likely cause would be a bad connection at one of your wiring harnesses at the valve cover. It might be as easy as checking the connections on the outside of the valve cover, where the wires connect to the valve cover gasket. It could also be one of the connections inside the valve cover, where the internal wiring harnesses connect to the injectors and glow plugs.

Might be as simple as needing the oil changed. Don't laugh, my truck gets all sorts of funny quirks when the oil gets old....including an occasional minor miss at idle.

Regular service is 5K miles and severe service is 3K. Yep, same as a car but a LOT more oil.

Also check out the fuel filter - wouldn't hurt to change that too if you don't know when it was changed last?? I'd say my truck always runs a tiny bit smoother with fresh oil in it too.
