Holy smokes man - never saw that before!! I'd say it's a defective spring from new too - you'd have to be jumping a truck to stress a spring that much. 
It's a shame they wouldn't warranty that - IMO that should be covered no matter what the milage - talk about a safety issue!! Lucky you didn't wreck when it happened!!

Your not putting add a leafs on the front are you? I put some add a leafs from rough country on my 86 F250 and they messed everything up. Horrible ride and terrible alignment. I dont recomend add a leafs for the front or rough country for that matter. Just my opinion.
