they mount between the spring pack(on top) and the frame, between the two mounts there is a rubber blader that you fill with air. they are designed to increase load capicity (level the truck with a heavy load) if you pump them up with no load it will raise the truck a few inches, but it will ride like it has no suspension at all. i have the firestone super duty's of the back of my truck. my slide in camper is about 2500# and i but 80 psi in each and it sits level

So, this would NOT be a solution if I was interested in putting a lift on my truck but still being able to lower it to get it into the garage (wife's requirement)?

no, not the type of air bag i am talking about. there are air adjustable lift suspension systems out there. from the little i have seen about them you have to replace the entire suspension(shocks, springs..etc) with the air suspension kit. plus i have heard they are very very expensive...like thousands of dollars. maybe someone that knows a little more will come along. i have only seen those type of suspensions on show trucks...hope that helps

best bet to find those answers is to go to a site with a bunch of weed draggers since thats how they lift those trucks up to go over speed bumps. Or email a shout to the guys over at http://www.keldermanmfg.com - they make airbag lifts for superduties.
