got to get the turn signals wired on a friend 55 f100, i did tail light brake lights and headlights awhile agp. His daughter is getting married sunday, and they are gonna use the truck, it has switch on the column, and wires, i used most all the original wires before, but dont have time to chase all the wires and draw a diagam to work off from.
Also are the front markers turn signals only, they do not come on with tailights, so i may need to work on them as well.
Thanks all, I'll check in the morning, and at lunch from work, as i hope to get this done friday night.
Dont quote me, but I dont think 55s came with stock blinkers. The front marker lights are running lights, as they are clear, and not red. I had blinkers hooked up, but removed them, my arm works fine.
55 s did not come with std blinkers. The white lights under the headlights if bone stock, are parking lights only- and remember 'old style' parking lights were just that- they went OFF when headlights were on, only coming on in the middle PARK switch position.
With aftermarket turn signals like Signal Stat (clamp on turn signal box and stalk) either separate turn fixtures were bolted on school bus style or sockets were swapped out for 'modern' dual filament bulbs.
Not sure about the factory option turn signals- suspect they upgraded to dual filament sockets in the front since the std harness has the wires.
It's very easy to convert the parking lights to blinkers. I just finished doing that on my 48 parking lights. Remove the pigtail, press out the old socket in a vice and press in an old metal taillight socket made for 1157 bulbs and use the dual contact pigtail.
th ewiring harness and switch install look factory. What i really need to know, is how should it be wired? I am pretty good with electricals, but its so much easier to trace things down on a schematic.
