Tranny Troubles :
auto which has 3 extra forward clutch plates and a shift kit .
The problem that has me guessing is that after fueling up last week when starting the truck I had no response whatsoever from the transmission .
Slight ticking noise coming from bell housing but no gears .
I have never had any auto quite in this fashion and they usually give some indication that something is amiss .
If left with engine idling it will cause the engine to labor or stall when in gear .
I have a back up tranny but am wondering if it is the tranny , or the torque converter that has failed , as I have never had one of those fail either .
Outside of doing a pressure test on the tranny I'm not aware of any way to tell if the lack of pressure is being caused by a failed pump or the torque converter .
Any suggestions from someone that knows more about these C6 animals than I do ?
78 Ford, been out west?

You must be Tony's dad. Sorry to steal your thread Jerry. I was cruising through and noticed some similarities to your profile and a good friend of mine. I don;t have e-mail rights yet so if you know Tony and Jp drop me a line. If you don't know em sorry.
Your C6 problem does sound strange. The tranny is bullet proof and should warn you either by grenading and never moving again or slow slipping to eventual death. Ticking? that's a new one. Good luck
privelage yet . I will post for you in the General discussions thread as Tony is now the proud owner of an Escape 4X4 ( wannabee) truck . He will call you today on the land line . Later .
