well here is an option for ya how about fiberglass? www.usbody.com sells fiberglass replacement parts for these trucks (no rust) a hood is $399 plus shipping but that is perfectly straight absoulutly no rust and a quick sanding away from being painted and installed.

My junkyard charged me $75 for my choice of hood. I think $100 would be a top limit for a nice hood with the hood springs and latches.

Fritolay,
Thanks for the tip on the website for USBody.com. I always wondered if anyone made a fiberglass cab for our trucks.

Hoods from '67 thru '72 are the same.

You'll notice a few trim differences between the '71 and '69. The '71 has an extra trim piece across the front lip that the '69 doesn't have. Your '69 grille will look different with that extra trim above running across the hood, can't say if it looks better or worse. Also, the F O R D letters on the '71 are larger and have a pebble finish while the '69 letters are smaller and have horizontal grooves, no biggie.

Thanks! I've seen that extra trim piece on the '71's--can it be removed?

If that trim is in good shape, don't throw it out. It's one of the grill parts the aftermarket does not make. <!I would be interested in buying it from you if reasonable. Otherwise I'll get one from a junk yard.>

when you take that trim piece off of the hood, there will be about 8 or 10 holes left across the front.

Dennis Carpenter makes that trim piece. He doesn't make the curved ones at the end though.
