Question: I was wondering, does anyone know what the tone sounds mean at startup? This happens inside the cab during the starting phase while the "Wait to start" indicator is on but doesn't stop or start with it. Not every time but occasionally. Sounds different than the seat belt warning beeps but not unlike the diagnostic beeps that some computers emit when started. This is probably some type of diagnostic signal but I can't find anything in the literature. Done this from day one. No one at the Ford dealerships around here can explain it either. Besides, it isn't duplicatable when I want someone else to hear it. I understand these Big Ole Trucks have about 28 chips/computers that process data and control various systems and performance but I can't see any device that would make these sounds in the schematics for the cab or dash areas.
The dealers just want to scan for ($$$) codes. I've never had a single sqawk or problem from new; 18 to 21 MPG highway, (without towing) and it goes like a raped ape.
Good one, huh?
