Every 3K. Some people push it to every 5K. Have also heard that those using synthetic push it to every 10K. I personally go with the 3K, as I believe most on this forum do also.

3000 for heavy service, 5000 for normal service.

I second Johnsdiesel. Currently I change every 5K, haven't started using it to it's potential yet. Running regular Rotella. Still looks good when I drain it.

Oil change interval 7.3 PSD

With 16 quarts of oil to draw from I go with the 5K oil and filter changes. No trailer towing and mostly combined freeway with some stop and go.
I'm goiing to try oil analysis next change just for grins; going on 33K+.

The ATF was due at 30K, my next job. I'm planning on using
Amsoil brand 100% synthetic.

I need to look up the xsfer case and differential service, probably about time for them, too.

My oil has never looked "good" when I change it like clockwork every 3K. It's always sooty dark, almost black. Do I have problems?

No, that's normal. Oil doesn't stay clean for that long in diesels. That doesn't mean it isn't still working though.

I was in the same boat not long ago and I decided the best way to figure it out would be by oil analysis. I sent in the first oil sample for analysis at 3,000. It came back with everything looking great and the comment that I could run the oil longer ("try 4000-5000") for the next change. I sent in the next sample with 3761 after some towing and the comments still say I could run the oil longer with insolubles at 0.5% (good I'm told). So I'll run it up to 5,000 the next time and see what happens.

Having the oil analyzed has given me tremendous peace of mind I could not have gotten with just opinions alone. The small cost of analysis will be easily offset in the long run just by helping me determine the optimum change interval for my particular engine, oils, and driving style. The other advantages are a bonus. With 14 qt oil changes in these things, the analysis is a real bargain.

bypass oil filter systems

The oil bypass filtration systems look good in the ads. Does anyone here use one AND use oil analysis? I'm curious to see if the ads reflect real-life experiences.

As johnsdiesel said, 5000 for regular service, and 3000 for severe service. I've gotta think the way I drive is fairly severe, so I change mine every 3000-3500 miles.

Change oil yourself every 3k $35. (Rotella T and MotorCraft filter.) Change and engine? Priceless?
