where is the best place to put my pyrometer probe before the turbo(in the manifold)? Is it easier if I take the manifold off or how will I do it on there? If anybody has a picture where exactly on the manifold it would help a lot.
Yes, the exhaust manifold is the best place to mount it. HERE is a picture of an installation (not mine). Some people have installed them without removing the manifold, but I would recommend removing it if possible. If you drill with the manifold in place start with a small bit and work your way up. Also, makes sure to take a shop vac and clean out the manifold.

JD,
This pic shows what appears to be two pyro's. Any particular reason for that or is that typical??? Sorry, I haven't done gauges yet so I'm not sure what they all look like. Thanks!

put grease on your bit and tap to trap metal shavings
Besure to hold that drill if drilling on the manifold if still on the motor. The bit will bite and spin the drill pinning your hand against the springs. Not fun. Personal experience. But what the hey! I ride horses too!
Ok the gauges are in. They weren't nearly as difficult as the downpipe. The pyro is mounted pre-turbo and was actually quite easy to install once I had my nerve up to make the penetration. I've seen cast iron cracked before. Mine (Issapro) required a 7/16 drill bit and 1/4 NPT tap. I first drilled with a 1/4 then finished with the 7/16. I found mine at O'Reilly's Auto. I used a vacuum cleaner hose to remove anything the magnet didn't get. Just stick the hose over the drilled and tapped hole. If you haven't bought your gauges yet, you may want to check with someone other than Issapro. They have amplifier boxes. It isn't a big deal though as it doesn't take long to wire them up.
Results,
Going from a rolling kick with the truck warmed up the pyro almost hit 875 at 80 mph. As soon as I stopped accelerating the temps immediately started falling and leveled off at about 600 but on level ground at 65 it is about 475-500. That was on the run back to Cheapo Depot for the second trip to get some more plumbing for the boost gauge. I had to cobble the fittings together for the boost. The map line is 1/4 ID and my line from the gauge is 1/4 OD. I had to make up a 1/4 T with the third leg being 1/8. running back up an on ramp I made 16 pounds but I ran out of hill before boost I think. Anyway, The gauges are cool to watch for now.
Tomorrow is the Bully-Dog 4 bank.
Could the other lead in the exhaust manifold be an fuel to air ratio guage. Kind of like a 02 sensor on a gasser. I dont know if this is correct just taking a stab at it.
Might i suggest let the truck run when you drill. Use a slow speed when drilling as well. Grease the tap and drill bit...never hurts. The pressure in the manifold will blow any shavings back in your face when you drill through.....just ware gogles! Done about 100 of em...with no problems at all.
As for the pic....that is a new Ford 6.0L motor. the stinger on the right is one off a Edge Juice Module with the motior....the other is probaly for a gauge. Both for the respective pryometer's. If that truck was mine.....i would put the Juice probe in the manifold...and the pyrometers after the turbo. The after turbo position is great to tell you how much heat soak is in the turbo. Meaning it tells you when you can shut your truck off....if the turbo is 300+...you need to let it sit untill its hits 300 or below. The pre turbo mount cant tell you this...you are getting whats comming out of the motor...it will cool and stabilize faster then the post turbo mount. Is one or the other better.....no...both are great in their own rights.
