Valve guide material question
I am about to take a set of 351c heads into the machine shop to get freshened up and a set of Ferrea SS valves installed.Based on the wiggle test and my own measurements I know at least one of the guides will have to be reconditioned.What material is better, I see both cast iron and silicon-bronze inserts and was wondering the advantages/disadvantages of either.

If your planning on keeping this engine for high mileage usage, then I would go with the bronze, they wont wear as much as your iron ones will. You will pay a premium for the bronze, though. If your not planning on keeping this engine forever, then save your $$ and go with the iron.
