I have a 95 F350 7.3 powerstroke diesel--it has an oil leak and when i replaced the 5 sp tranny the shop replaced the main seal (since that was where the leak seemed to be coming from) ...then...new transmission works great and its leaking oil worse than ever..now the shop is saying its the High pressure oil pump? which routes oil leaks down the valley and out the same area!! well, I am wondering if this seems right an what the appropriate repair cost might be (approximately) I have been quoted >$1200.oo Anyone know much about this? Thanks a bunch!
I don't know what the cost of a new high pressure pump would be but the shop is giving you correct information about the route of the oil. As the valley fills it will run toward the back of the engine and out a hole in the right rear of the block directly under the turbo where it will drain into the bell housing and down from there. I hope you didn't get fleeced for a transmission job when the problem was the high pressure pump all along.
