SBV45....

Your kidding right?

I posted in all threads that dealt with oil for the past month.

I am very concerned about oil breaking down and it indeed is according to Blackstone Labs.

I want to get 7,500 miles out of my 15W-40 oil, but Blackstone is saying that they are finding that the 6.0L is "breaking down" the viscosity to that of a 30 weight!!!

Here are their comments...

JEFF: The viscosity in this sample did improve a little over your last sample, although it is still slightly low for a 15W/40 oil. We have been finding that the 6.0L Power Stroke is notorious for shearing down the oil's viscosity. Most of the samples we see from these engines have a lower viscosity, regardless of the brand of oil. We don't think your viscosity is a problem at all, as it is reading in a 30W range. No fuel, coolant, or water contamination was found, and insolubles were low, showing good oil filtration. This looks like a very nice wearing engine at 22,100 miles.

Take care,

Jeff

Jeff, that was sarcasm. Just funnin!

I wonder if one of the guys running synthetic is willing to get their oil analyzed. I for one would see that as a real plus for synthetic.

Its happening to all oils dino or synth. Someone (from another forum) brought it to Blackstone's attention. Since then they usually include a note that it seems to be normal for the 6.0. FMTRVT is the fellows user-name on the other forum, here is the link to the thread that discusses it (interesting reading and posts from some knowledgeable people). FMTRVT is keeping a database of all oil analysis people will give him. Id encourage everyone that does OA to do the same, just PM him and he will let you know how. Here is the link to his database, just click on the 60current.pdf file. The 7.3 is in there too. I'm B014 in the 6.0 file.

Smile

If I knew how to do it, I'd attach a copy of my last Blackstone report to this post. Best $20 you can spend for piece of mind, particularly if you have C94 injectors.

OK, let me get my blinders on.
Ill never understand why people choose to limit their information. Ill agree they (we) can be harsh at times. But the information and knowledge over there far outweighs its occasional harshness.

Remember, it's a personal choice is all

but I don't see it as limiting my information...
With all information the first test must be to consider the source...

I perceive that I am not limiting my info and that I can get all the info I need here from sources, some of which I know personally...

And, again, that is nothing but my personal choice - not trying to sway anyone...

Only saying I've tried many and chose this one...
Just like we chose our Fords, I chose this site - that's all

sorry to take us off track...
