OK - I was hooking up a trailer last weekend and during the process grounded the parking/running lamp wire. Of course, the two fuses under the hood blew...now it gets good - I replaced the fuses, turned on the light switch, and everything worked fine. I figured the problem was solved and that was that...2 hours later I noticed the parking lights were still on - went over and checked the switch, and it was OFF. Opened the hood and pulled and put back both fuses (#4 and #8) and the lights were off. Flipped the switch inside, and the lights came on fine, but when I turned off the switch they stayed on AGAIN. Repeated the fuse remove and install and the lights were off. Tried one more time with the same result. The only other thing is that when I turn the switch from on to off, the parking lights dim a little... HELP??!?!
Is there a relay for the park lights? The short might have "ruffled its feathers" and caused the contacts to not "let go" when you turn the switch off.
I was thinking about that one too, but I don't think there is a dedicated relay for the parking lamps?? Also, I was told that since the lights would dim slightly when the switch was turned off, it might be some kind of "backfeed" issue keeping them on. The same guy also said the light switch might have been KO'd by the short circuit...woohoo! NOT
