Just purchased a 5.4 SC w/ 3.55 auto and installed 40 series duel outlet flows w/ 4" tips. Sounds awesome! Rumbles on the outside and quiet on the inside.
Thanks for the additional replys. I talked directly with Flowmaster and they do have a kit available for the 04 F150. I guess it only just became available since my Ford dealer didn't know. Neither did the Flowmaster dealer I went to prior to my call to Folwmaster. In any event, the part number for the new kit is 17393. This part number represent a Delta Flow series 40 system - SI/DO. I'm having it installed this weekend.
Thanks all for the input. I am now anxious to hear what the series 40 sounds like.
Jegs should have the flowmaster exhaust kit for my truck on Tuesday (part# 389-17393.) If it comes through I'll let you know how easy/difficult it was to install.

Super 40 Series, Single in, DOR.
Thanks and I'm interested in hearing how it goes for you. I would like to get a new exhaust sometime this summer but I'm not sure which one yet.
Had my kit installed on Saturday. The sound is great. As I indicated before the kit is a Deltaflow super 40 Flowmaster, single in, dual out. I don't think the sound will set-off car alarms. It's a nice sounding low rumgle. There is a definate peak in the sound at about 1800 RPM. Quiets out at about 2000/2100, which is nice when your cruising. There is, however, interior cab noise at this 1800 RPM - a droning if you will. I just feather the throttle and it's fine (when wife is in the truck).
Just finished installing the Flowmaster DOR kit, Super 40 series. They sound great! Not too noisy inside the cab and nice aggressive tone when accelerating.
Took about 4 hours to install. Could have been quicker but this was the first time I've installed an exhaust. I used a hacksaw for cutting and standard hand ratchet for removing/installing pipes.
If you're going to attempt this install yourself, here are a few tips:
1.) Air ratchet and deep walled sockets!!! You can only tighten the nuts on the clamps so far before the bolt begins pushing the socket off. I ended up finishing with a closed-end wrench. Very slow!
2.) Be prepared to cut the main inlet pipe. There are several cab/bed length combinations that require cutting the main inlet pipe. I used a hacksaw but a better tool (Sawsall) would make this step much easier/quicker.
3.) You do NOT have to cut the tailpipe off of the factory exhaust system in order to remove it. I was able to loosen the band clamp between the "Y" pipe and inlet pipe, lubricate the rubber hangers/mounts with soapy water, and pull the whole system loose. With a little manuvering I was able to get the factory exhaust out from under the truck without cutting the tailpipe off. It would be slightly easier if the tailpipe was cut loose but I only had a hacksaw so I was motivated to avoid cutting again if at all possible.
4.) When installing the new hangar/mount on the drivers side drop the bolt down from inside the frame and tighten the nut on the outside of the frame and hangar mounting bracket. Do not try the other way around, you will probably lose the nut and/or washers inside the frame.
That's pretty much it. It was just a pain trying to get all the clamps tight enough using hand tools. I know...duh! Next time my garage will be better equipped.
