I was surfing the web today looking up the law to get farm tags and I found this. http://www.petitiononline.com/txplate/petition.html If you want to help make a difference and voice your opinion you should sign it. I know there was a thread about front plates awhile back so i figure yall might care. Please send this to as many TX residents as you know.
Do these petitions really work or is it a ploy to harvest emails?
I would readily sign a hand written petition but not over the Internet.
On the other hand, you could cut paste the letter and email it to the officials. If we flood them with emails, it might help.
I have signed a few of the petitions and been asked my email adress and have never got any spam or anything. It has an option that it will not show your email adress to anyone.

That is a good idea, we ought to try that to.
DPS will do everything they can to keep the front plates. Its a safety issue. You would be hard pressed to change the minds of DPS. Without changing the minds of DPS, you arent likely to change Perry's mind. I've already been thru this conversation with a few troopers.
I've never cared much for that front plate either. But makes no real difference to me either way.
Ive just recently heard people complaining about Texas front plates, and frankly I havent noticed the fact that alot of people have them and since I cant drive, I didnt know the law. But do they really strictly enforce it, because I've seen plenty of people runnning around without them... and some new cars like one of the new chrysler cars look like theres not even a place to put one.. thatnks for the reply. Oh i almost forgot... are there any years exempt from having the front plates and if so which ones? Thanks again.
My sisters 97 Camero doesnt even have a spot to mount one with out drilling through the fiberglass. I didnt have one on my truck and my '66 Mustang doesnt have one. I've been pulled over several times in the last few years and havent had a problem with it. Twice the Trooper would walk up to the front to get the plate #, see there wasnt one, and just turnaround and go to the rear to get it from there. Neither of them said anything to me. Then once I got pulled over by a city po and he asked me where it was. I told him it didnt have one when I bought the truck (wich was true) and he just said "Oh, okay".
I guess it's one of them laws that just arent enforced too much, atleast around here. Whenever I go out of town I usualy put it on (except for the Mustang) just because I dont know how leniant LEOs are in other counties.
It would seem that it would cost about have as much to do without the front plate. Not sure but that is the way to get across the folks down in Austin. The cost savings might just be enough to give the troopers a little bigger check.
Well, they also get money when they stop you for not having a front plate. To me it has no significance or purpose, it is just one of those "dont like you laws". The cops around here love to pull people over for that.
dps hung me for 125 last spring for no front plate. The roll pan on the truck wasnt set up for a plate . and i had it on the dash . if it's not on the front of the vechile it's illegal. Same for plate lights in the rear
