99 Explorer Stereo Problems - HELP!!!
Hi, I'm new to the forum as far as being a member, but I have used it for many useful tips in the past. Now I have a problem that I need some help with. My 1999 Explorer's stereo started acting up yesterday. When I have it in a moving gear (R, D, 1 or 2) the stereo has no sound. It is powered on and everything works, just no sound. As soon as I put it in Nuetral or Park it works perfectly. I'm figuring a short somewhere, but I am STUMPED on what it has to do with the shifter. This is a column shift. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

That is an odd situation. Please Answer these questions, so we know more about the problem?
1. Is it the stock ford stereo?
2. What is your trim level? Do you have volume controls in your steering wheel?
3. Is there Alien Life on Mars?
4. What happens when the sound returns? (static, humming, off then on not gradual?)

99 stereo problems
It is the stock stereo.
I do not have any radio controls on steering wheel.
As fars as Mars, I don't know....but in my stereo, I THINK SO!
When it comes back on it seems to be just fine.
