This isn't related to the VIN but in response to your comment about wishing you had a hard top. I've notice my truck to be warmer (in the winter) since I've been running a soft top. My metal to seemed to hold the cold more. I didn't have a headliner which some people told me would fix the problem. So unless you get a hard top with a headliner you may be better off.
As for the top I use a aftermarket fiberglass hard top. Is seems to keep the cold out ok.
just have to give the heater time to warm up. Like Broncojohn said it tkes forever to warm up the original metal tops.
Broncojohn, I live in the north and that is a quesion I have asked many time and nobody has ever given me an answer before.
I have a hardtop in storage and would like a soft top but was afraid in the winter I would hate it.
Thanks, Ed
68 351 bronc - I've lived in Chicago and as long as you can get the top to seal right you should stay a little warmer. I haven't run soft doors so I dont know how they effect the soft top. I run a White Bestop Supertop and It has a very good system for sealing around the original doors. I believe its warmer, I've never gone out there with a thermometer and checked it but it felt warmer. When the sun is out you can really feel it; The truck will be warm when you get in it after its been parked. I liked my hard top I bought my soft top for the summer so I had something to cover me in the rain and I didn't have to make a project out of puting my top on. I during one fall I left the soft top on and noticed the difference, so I left it on all winter. I don't think I'll ever put the hardtop on again.
