Over the weekend I installed dynamat on all four doors and the two tailgate doors. I'm quite happy with the result, and encouraged to try the next step, pulling up the carpet and doing the floor.
For those of you who might have done something similar, I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with! Note I am primarily interested in cutting down on road noise, not reducing the load on my amplifiers.
- Over and above doors, how much does the floor benefit in terms of noise cancellation?
- Are there any secrets to removing carpet, anything non-intuitive??
- Are there any tools or techniques that anyone has found to be useful either in removing carpet or applying matting to the floor?
- How many square feet did you use on the floor of the X?
Hey Mac !
How about some pics and how to's....
I'm considering this on my diesel Ex to cut down on the road noise since I blast around at high rpm and speed most of the time :-)
My truck is done top to bottom more for stereo reasons. The road noise will cut down quite a bit. Also look into metal type window tint as this will also help cut noise and heat temp in the truck. If you want to take this a step more look into putting another channel of weatherstripping around the doors. hope this helps. Bill

Thanks! Will post my experiences.
thats cool that you could tell a difference, when i had a '95 bronco i dynamated the entire back of the truck(floor, roof, 2 layers on the wheel wells, tailgate, and the b pillars) to try to reduce the road noise and it did not help at all. about all it did was help it from getting real hot in the summer. i was running BFG MT's and had side exit dual exhaust
