IMHO this is tacky, I 'look' in here from time to time to see if there is anything going on such as, has a decision been made on hats, jackets, shirts, logo. Not much and yes I vote and comment. I put in for South Dakota Group leader got shot down. Now I have to post more often or risk being 'thrown off' the High Plains Drifter's membership.
So I'll go on checking new posts and helping people with their problems and not bother stopping here. At least the people I help don't put a requirment of number of posts I do before I can help them.
I don't recall saying I was going to bounce someone if they don't post "X" amount of times per any time limit. The point of asking was to get a general consensus as to what YOU ALL want. That's why we made it a poll. It isn't just this chapter. All of the leaders so far are looking for guidelines and a standard that we can All go by so as to be fair to everyone. Nothing is set in concrete as of yet. These polls result from conversations the leaders have had, so far. If there are no standards set to function with, there will be chaos. All clubs, societies, etc, have rules to go by, so as to make the WHOLE function well as a group and yet try to be fair to everyone.

Is there a point of having 700 members to a club, group or organization, when only 12 participate? Yes...perhaps in society, where $$$ are important for running things. But here, we are trying to keep this FREE for everyone's general participation. If people want statistical members, that is fine with me completely. I only offered the poll so I could pass on info to the other leaders.

So far the input I am getting is all being looked at and weighed fairly, I hope. Please don't over react yet. If rules and regulations get passed that even I don't like, I also may say toodle - oo to the whole thing.

Perhaps the admin are watching all the conversations between the leaders and may make their OWN set of guidelines to go by.... and its getting to the point where that would be fine by me.

In the years I've moderated a group in Yahoo..since 99... I've booted and banned 3 people and have held an average of 115 members. To get booted or banned.. it takes some pretty offensive behavior toward others in the group. And before getting booted they had all been fairly warned and asked to change their ways. I have no plans to BOOT anyone. In fact... booting someone is far from what I enjoy doing.

As I understand it. it is simply a qualification to get listed, not to remain, because if that were the case, I likely would end up having the same problem, as there just isn't anything I want to post/reply to for awhile, then just watch. Anyone can participate, just to be an official member is all we are looking at here, right?

I'm kicking around a few ideas for the NW Chapter too but right now I'm leaving it open to anyone who lives in our region. Down the road if I have members who haven't been active on FTE (not particularly the Chapter forum, just FTE in general) in a period of time, perhaps 6 months, I'll remove them from out chapter memberships. This doesn't mean that person isn't allowed to post in our forum, anyone can!

Disrespectful behavior is a different matter all together as only the mods or admin have the ability to remove someone from FTE all together. If we saw something in our Chapter forums that was inappropriate we'd report it to them and they would decide what becomes of it.

Unfortunately no one is making it clear as to why a member needs to be present and accounted for and posting to remain a member. Does it cost money keep their name on the rolls?
If a person has an incident beyond his or her control and can not be here for a period of time and they get dropped from being a member. Then they are able to come back only to find they have been disowned, how would they feel, or you?
If the chapter(s) are having difficultly recruiting members, why would there be any more rules than the customary ones for the FTE site?
Where I'm coming from is why I have not 'joined' a church. I have been to many and been a member of a few. In some cases you HAVE to have a full immersion baptisim to 'belong'. One case had rules that you HAD to donated money to the church and the more you gave the higher the 'classification' 'standing' in the church you had. I could not run fast enough from it.
Here at FTE I am accepted as long as I adhere to polite conduct. I am allowed to post a question, or answer, or even disagree with someone as long as I'm polite and don't attack that person.
I prefer a Chapter that it's founding members decide that come one come all, we don't care where you hale from, we don't care what you look like and if you only have one or two things to say a year you are still welcome as a member. This is a 'home' for you so please feel welcome, we like having you here.

Basically that is how my wife and I run our family. We don't care who you are, where your from or what you did in the past. If you treat us fair, we'll treat you fair. BUT if you act against us, we will drop you fast. You are welcome in our home, we don't stand on ceremony. But you will be civil and you won't attack anyone here either verbally or physically. If you have a complaint then air it in a civil fashion.

Exclamation Clarifying the issue for all.

This was not a thread about disowning anyone if they don't show up on a regular basis. It all started out as wondering if we wanted to accept members right off the bat, without knowing if they are going to be a full time participant, part time or NO time participant. Whats the point of joining the chapter if you aren't going to participate? Anyone from anywhere and at any time may post here. It doesn't mean a thing to me , even if they are from Poland! the object of the chapters is to organize meetings, gain friendships and share personal memories and experiences that have to do with your love of your Ford Truck. In joining, we (by a majority so far) would just like to see that you are a willing participant and are going to be here more than once and be a member statistically only. As I stated above..I have no desire whatsoever to boot anyone from the chapter. The only way that will happen on my watch is if someone is totally rude and out of control with other members. And before being booted, they will be asked to clean up their act and given a chance to do so. When I became a member of FTE a year ago, I started out on a bad note, because of a misunderstanding. Thankfully, Mil1ion discussed the situation with me, via email, we worked things out and I gained a respect for one of the leaders of this fine forum. And I was given a 2nd chance. I could do no less for anyone else and would expect the people in my chapter and those to take my position in the future, to do the same.

I thought I had made this clear earlier, but I guess not. I'm sorry for all the misunderstanding. The new chapter leaders/presidents are all looking for ways to be consistent with each other for the plain and simple reason of fairness. I also posted earlier that until further notice I am accepting all applications for membership, even though a majority have suggested that posting and longevity with FTE is important. They ARE important for a chapter to have activities and survive. But, since we are a fledgling chapter, just getting our feet under us, I have decided by executive decision, to accept all applicants. My only criteria that I look for at this time is are you a resident of one of the states in the region? And even at that... I am still accepting all. Possibly later on, after chapter discussion and taking into consideration the poll results, we may set a criteria for eligibility only for JOINING. As far as I am concerned...once a member, always a member.

Can I make this any clearer? Thanks for all your comments and concerns. My name isn't Adolph and you may rest assured that I am probably one of the fairest people you will ever know. That's why I will only make executive decisions when necessary and will poll the membership on other measures of importance
.

That is good and I appreciate it.
Where the misunderstanding came from is from your first post.

So ... with that said .... my first question to all of you is.............
Should there be a minimum number of posts and/or a required amount of time being an active member of FTE forums?

This is where I got up in the air about.

I apologize if I was out of line, but was simply stating my point of view.

Duane

You weren't out of line in the least. Questions are always appreciated and hopefully I can answer in a timely manner. And in a manner that doesn't offend. I am very straightforward, so if my answers seem curt, they are not intended that way. I just want to make sure that everyone is on the same plain. ( so to speak )
