Help- --My 2000 f-350 powerstroke, is having a bad day. The overdrive light on the shift lever started blinking, then the dome light began to blink and the relay for the hazard/ turn signals etc.. started to buzzz any ideas?....... thanks Greg
Did you find out what fixed your problem. I've got something very similar going on.
Buzzing noise that sounds like it is coming from behind the interior fuse box.
Dome light won't turn on when I open the door or with the dimmer switch, but sometimes it blinks for no reason.
OD light is blinking.
no wipers
no washers
no interior lights (except the dome light that blinks sometimes.)
no ESOF 4x4 operation - OD light starts flashing
buzzer that takes a while to stop and gets weaker until it stops when you pull the key.
Everything else works.
I'm thinking my GEM module is the problem. I'll take a look at that this weekend.
I'll check inside the battery cable. In fact, I'll just put a new end on it and see what happens. It looks like the factory ends are on the cables and there could be corrosion inside the wires.
Headlights, blinkers, hazard lights all work fine. Radio works fine as does the fan motor. The motor starts right up with no issues.
I took apart the GEM tonight and it looks like new. No corrosion, no anything. All the leads look like new for all the plugs around the inside fuse box. I re-assembled it and installed it back where it was. No changes in behavior.
When I turn the key to accessory, the buzzer/beeper gets weak and faint. Turn the key the other way and the buzzer/beeper is strong.
you shouldn't have a buzzer/beeper in the acc position. Sounds to me like a short. I would check under the dash for frayed wires and moisture. Check the back of the fuse box. Have you had rain recently?
No moisture. The truck is dry. Fuse box is dry. We've had no rain for over a week. I've got the dash apart looking for any short, etc. Nothing yet. It's may be some sort of short, but I don't know how one short can affect so many things at once.
The buzzer is intermittent. Sometimes it buzzes faintly, sometimes not at all in the accessory position. Sometimes I'll get a quick flash of the interior light and sometimes the windshield wipers will cycle once when I turn the key. I've left the wipers on to see if they start working when I wiggle connectors/wires under the dash. So far nothing. It's been a real puzzle.
If I remember correctly, I had the wiring harness in the steering column short out once and it caused all sorts of electrical gremlins. Come to find out it was from pulling my fat azz into the truck using the steering wheel. It's not fun to dig in there, but it might hold the secret to your problem. Good luck.
