rebuild or replace??

I have a 93 7.3l non-turboed F-250 hd sc 4x4 auto .. I have been getting a puff of whitish smoke when starting .. have considering replacing the motor with a turboed motor. what years can I put into the truck or am I better off just rebuilding it and going from there.. I do tow a 27ft 5th wheel of about 7,00lb with it and would like more power... the auto trans will be replaced at this time as well.
any help will be appreciated
thanks in advance

white smoke while starting is not cause for a new truck or engine.

white smoke can be caused by glow plugs that are bad. If after the truck warms up the white smoke goes away, I would bet either glow plugs or air in the fuel lines.

rebuild or replace??

I have noticed that right after I start my engine there is a small puff of white smoke and even some soot, but it doesn't smoke after it is running(kinda weird?). My question is about someone looked under my truck and though I blew my front main bearing seal. I know who was looking, and I know they are not very mechanically enclined, any ideas on how to check this?

Well the if the seal is leaking you should see oil on the balancer side of the seal. The seal is located right behind the crankshaft balancer, which is just right behind the pulley. If it's not leaking much (just seeping), I would not worry about it.
