I've got a 2001 F250 SC XL V10 5-speed. It has the two bucket seats in the front and no console at all, just a mile of space between the two front seats. I was looking at consoles on ebay and it seems they are pretty readily available in for around $79.00. My questions is, what is involved in installing the console? Does it just screw to the floor (my truck has no carpet) from inside the console? Is there any special hardware involved like brackets or anything that would attach to the seat bases or brackets attached to the floor? I just want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I order anything. Thanks
It should just screw into the floor. I haven't taken mine out, but I did lift the rubber mat in the bottom of the console up. There are 4 screws that I would assume hold the console down.

At least you HAVE the rubber mat! Mine came without it, and I had to buy the mat extra through the parts department after I took delivery of the truck
Autobahn, do you remember what kind of screws Ford used to attach the console to the floor? About how long? Does anyone know if there are pre-drilled holes in the floor under my floor covering for the screws? I'm just concerned about drilling holes in the floor and damaging something underneath the truck with the drill or maybe damaging something with the screws during the installation. Don't want to mess up my baby.
My F-250 XL had the buckets without the console. Got one on ebay for $36.00. Mounted easy enough. 4 screws. Front two went into the inner sheetmetal. The 2 rear ones didn't feel secure so I drilled straight through the floor and through bolted them from the underside of the truck. I used some waterproof sealer and I'm good to go.
Be careful on ebay. Make sure you are getting the NEW model console with the cupholders. The older model had a flat compartment without cupholders
I installed a factory console in my 03 SD. Before installing, I removed the seats and carpet. There are holes pre-drilled in the floor pan and have a sealing tape covering them. When the center seat was removed, there were holes in the carpet where the seat was mounted. The carpet got replaced also, just to keep that from the factory appearance. I purchased the mounting studs and nuts from the dealer for a couple of dollars a piece. They are a stud mounted on a pop rivet. If you go with the factory hardware, you will need a pop rivet gun for the install.
