Reason: more info in titel
Get a truck repair guide that contains wiring diagrams. Also look in your public library for the 'Michell Manual' repair guides for your year truck. They list every ignition/fuel system combination possible.
It could also be that a 351 was not the original engine in that truck. I believe '84-'86 300 sixes came with carburetion and TFI-IV. There should be the letter 'G' in the VIN if it had a 351 originally.
I checked that, it is the original engine and the problem I'm having is my wiring dose not match the ones in those books. butt after reading some more on this forum I think I might have found my problem. But this truck still has an odd setup from what i'v bin told the EEC-IV was only on the EFI engine not the carberated 351w.
Your dealer and the shop are incorrect. If they are not, you and I have two rare trucks because I have one with exactly the same setup in my driveway. As near as I can determine, the 1985 F-250 351W 2V pickups were fitted with EEC IV (TFI) and feedback carbs. The 352W HO 4V were fitted with the DuraSpark II system. There is a wiring diagram for the EEC IV setup in the Haynes Manual #880: Ford Pick-ups & Broncos 1980-1990. It is included in the back along with several other wiring diagrams and it takes some searching through the diagrams to identify the correct one. The current Haynes Manual is for Pick-ups and Broncos 1980-1996 and I am not sure it has the correct wiring diagram in it. You may have to located an old edition to get the correct one. There are several listed on eBay. You may also find it online at a used book-seller site. If your short is in the chassis electrical system, that system is the same in all F-250s, depending on accessories, etc and any wiring diagram for that should be adequate. I've found that Ford sometimes made running changes in electrical systems or wiring color schemes that weren't always shown in the wiring diagrams. Hope this is some help. Good luck finding your short circuit.

I think they have the computer under the drivers seat.. it should say up on the tag on the core support.. And I think they have a double headed rotor under the ignition cap.
my computer is under the dash and my rotor is the one that autozone says is for the TFI-IV. any one know what I should do about a eec coad 18? I have a ICM and the truck runs just not to well, lack of power bad mpg and its stalls when I stop. I dont think i'm geting any ignithion advance.
I can relate, my 83' F250 had a VV feedback carb, California emissions, etc... parts and manuals didn't jive, so a friend helped me convert it to a 75' duraspark II ignition... originally the truck had the box under the seat, and thousands of wires... now its down to 7 wires...
