Ive got a fitting at on the common rail at the back of the driver side head leaking, how do i bleed the pressure off this thing before cracking it open to replace??? then how do you reprime a pstroke?? or do i not worry bout it and just fire it up and let it do it itself? probably just need to replace the oring inisde it
If it's leaking, there is no pressure when the engine is shut off. There is a seal inside the fitting, and depending on what year truck you have, somtimes the turbo pedestal has to be removed to take the fuel line off. After reassembly you will not need to prime the system, just fire it up.
its a 97, im hoping i dont have to pull the turbo it dosnt look like i will have too, its only an intermitten leak only leaks when im not looking and leaks when i dont have time to find it
I dont think you're talking about the fuel rail, are you? Do you mean the large diameter (1.5" or so) plug on the back of the head that takes a 1/2" ratchet head? First check to see if it's loose. I had a oil leak on the front right plug on the 95 which was easily fixed by just tightening it up. I had just reinstalled the engine and the plug somehow was loose, and just vibrated loose enough to leak.
