I don't know how to describe my problem other then to say my steering seems to stick (not return to center) when changing lanes on the freeway. When I'm on the side streets and make a turn at a corner it returns almost completly but still stops short of a complete return. If I turn a little to the left or right it seems to stick in that direction. It's a diesel with 68000 miles and the power steering fluid is full. I read stuff about the ball joints sticking,if this can be confirmed thats what I'll do,can anyone help me figure this out. Thanks in advance!!
Navstar, Do the obvious first look for slack in the ball joints, tie rod ends, and other steering linkage. After that take it to a front end shop for a better evaluation. The suspension in some cases will have to be inspected with weight on the wheels. With out a turn table this is hard to do. But on the bright side, you may just need a front end alignment.
Yep, that's what I'd suggest too...
sounds like your alignment is making the frotn end want to "fall" to one side or the other ...
Find a good front end shop and tell them your concerns...
Make sure they understand you do NOT want an alignment until the problem is fixed...
or know that the alignment will fix it...(no need to pay twice for one :-)
