Diesel Maintenance....

I've was wondering if Diesel's (especially the Power Stroke) requires oil changes at 3,000 miles like a regular gas motor. I've been told both ways and was just wanting to get things cleared up. I don't own one, but am planning on purchasing one in the future (hopefully sooner than later). Thanks.

The manual says 5000 miles for regular service and 3000 miles for severe service. Alot of guys are running bypass filters with synthetic oil with which they are getting 10,000 mile services. They are doing oil analysis that tells them they can run that long.

I see, thank you for the info. That's kinda what I figured, but I wanted to just check for my own information.

Amsoil and Mobil Delvac 1 good synthetics and there are more that meet the CH-4/SJ API rating but I can't think of them now. The 2 above are the most commonly used that I hear about.
