My tach has stopped working on my 85 6.9. I assume the magnetic pickup on the injection pump gear has fallen off or something. Does anyone know anything about them, how to check and where to go to buy a new one etc. Thanks

when the sensor on my 85 went bad, i checked with a ohmmeter on the lowest setting (200 ohms) on the wires and a magnet that i passed slowly across the end of the sensor. you should get a reading every time the magnet passes the end. my sensor was bad, so i went to the local ford dealer and got the sensor for around $35 a year ago
