I saw something similar to this on another site. It just asked how many still had all eight of their C94 injectors. I would like to know who still has them all, who has had one or two replaced, or who has had more than three replaced. Thanks for voting in advance.
I have a March 27, 03 engine with C94 injectors. My last oil analysys indicated less than .5% fuel in oil. Comments says I have good injectors. I use Stanadyne or PS fuel additive in every tank. I have 16,500 miles.
11 injectors replaced one at a time and on different dates by two different dealerships. build date 5/03. Only talked with one person who has had more than us replaced and it was 13, he was from Fort Worth Texas, his build date was 9/03.
My injectors are looking good at 22,100 miles...
here is latest Blackstone Labs oil report for my truck.
JEFF: The viscosity in this sample did improve a little over your last sample, although it is still slightly low for a 15W/40 oil. We have been finding that the 6.0L Power Stroke is notorious for shearing down the oil's viscosity. Most of the samples we see from these engines have a lower viscosity, regardless of the brand of oil. We don't think your viscosity is a problem at all, as it is reading in a 30W range. No fuel, coolant, or water contamination was found, and insolubles were low, showing good oil filtration. This looks like a very nice wearing engine at 22,100 miles.
Thanks,
Jeff

I have had 3 injectors replaced (so far). The first one was # 1 inj @ 3256 mi and the other ones were #2 & # 4 @4909 mi. Both times i have taken it in for the oil being overfull.Tried to get them to change the remaining ones ,they said NO Ford will only let them replace the faulty ones. What a bummer. The 6.0 is in a 2003 Exc.4x4 build date is 03/03
B&LPSDEXC.,
I think your the first Excursion with a March build that has injector problems. I have MArch 1, 2003 build Excursion and have had zero problems.
I thought that maybe March was a good month for the 6.0L motor... guess I was wrong.
Good luck,
Jeff

My 03 SC with Torqueshift has a 9-6-02 Huntsville built engine build date has had only the original March 03 reflash and has all original injectors, which I assume are C94's. Had loose hose clamp that cut the intercooler hose but dealer fixed. Have 13800 miles and am getting 17mpg combined mostly mountaineous driving. Had no rear seal leaks or any of the other problems some have had. Love the truck. Had a '99 7.3L with a Superchip but it was a slug compare to this one.
I've read that Ford delivered over 200,000 6.0L Powerstrokes and had a 500 truck buyback which is .0025%. I think you hear about more problems with 6.0L because Ford sells so many more Diesels than GM and Dodge combined.
A final observation, reading the Dodge or Dmax sites I find those folks almost consider driving a Ford a moral failing. They downright foment about Fords. We who drive Fords consider what you drive a personal choice and I have a good friend who drives a Dodge HO Cummins and another who drives a Dmax Chevy. His Allison tranny has had a few major problems.
