Whats a 4x2?

At the risk of sounding a little too ignorant, can somebody explain what exactly 4x2 means? I got a 4x4 is a four wheel drive(DUUUUHHHHH) and a 2x4 is a board but what a bout the ol' 4x2?

those where emblems put on the 86 trucks if they werent XL's or XLT's all it means is its a 2 wheel drive 4 wheels 2 that drive

its either a two wheel drive or a 2x4 found at a local lumber yard
