I bought a 97 F-150 XLT with the V6 4.2 and wanted to know if you might have some recommendations for adding a little more power. Of course I could have bought an F-150 with a bigger motor as a start, but I didn't.
I'm new on the forum - already picked up 2 useful tips from the FAQ.
Yeah, shoulda bought the V8 4.6L. It's really good even in stock condition. Other than that, I'd say at least add some aftermarket air intake kit, probably K&N, cold air intake. Little things like that. You also might want to sniff around on superchips' website. Replacing the computer chip will help alot. It really depends on how much you want to spend, total, and also what more you want from your truck. Latah.
Yeah, well, as far as where to buy things online for your truck, I'd have to recommend Jegs.com. They have a TON of stuff. Also go to www.truckperformance.com, www.summitracing.com, http://www.ford-trucks.racenet.net/, theres really a truck load of different parts stores that are online. Just basically check those sites out, and if you still can't find what you're looking for, then do a search on google for "ford truck performance." I'm pretty sure those same sites will come up, mostly because they are the best, but hopefully some others will show up too. Lemme know if this helps. Latah.
Personally, I'd always check www.motorhaven.com before I checked other sites, since that is the company that owns and runs this site. They are putting out a lot of money/time so that we have this forum, I feel like I give a little back when I order from them.
