Sugesstions, please? I just purchased a trans temp gauge and the single pod that attaches to the A pillar. The pod will come in basic black and I want it to match the gray interior of my 01 XLT. Do I get a can of spray paint from Ford or do I have to bring in a sample (ash tray) to the paint dealer to have it mixed up? That sounds like it could cost more than the pod. TIA.
Ford dealers used to sell the interior paint, dont know if they do anymore, i have heard yes and heard no. You could take it to a body shop and just pay to have them paint it, they can match the paint for you. I went to a local paint supply place and bought a Quart of interior paint, way too much paint for that little pod, but i have it, so if your anywhere near IL come on over I have gray and med. and dk parchment paint!
Newer trucks have the interior paint code on the truck build sticker on the door jamb like jdadamsjr said. A good automotive paint store can use this code with your VIN to get a great match. I would also recommend getting the paint from an automotive store so you can get a plastic adhesive promoter also. You can get as little as a pint, but like Distinctive Dave said, it may be cheaper to have a body shop to paint it for you.
I have seen several places on the Internet that have the pods already painted and/or the paint to paint them with. Not sure if our store here has them or not, but I might start looking there.........
When I installed my friends gauge POD we found matching interior paint for his 03 at Wal-mart. I beleive it was made by duplicolor but I maybe wrong it was a yr ago. It was in the Automotive section near the touch up paint. he has the grey interior and it was a perfect match,,
