i have noticed a lot of old really cool trucks just rusting away in pastures out here.some of these trucks go back to the 30s there are tons of trucks out here like that.i just wanted to know if you have seen any old trucks just rusting away and what you thought of it.
Yea, lots of them. I dont think about it much. Most of them are parked in a field for a reason. Wether they broke down years ago and the owner couldnt pay to fix it, or the engine or tranny went into something else, the owner died and the family left behind refuses to sell it because it reminds them of the owner but nobody can restore it, or what ever. There's a million reasons for a truck to end up parked in a field to rust away. Some folks just like it for "decoration".
It's not something I'd do.
Kinda like the truck inside the Old Navy store in town. It's just sitting there with t-shirts in the bed. I'd love to put it on a 4x4 chasis and bring it back to life.
Old trucks and cars rotting away in the pasture are a thing of beauty. If they're not salvageable, that is. Great yard ornaments. I live in the city and fantasize about having land enough to abandon the old family rides and keep them around. Kind of like a family plot.
Ever see the Hemmings Motor News "Aesthetically Abandoned Antique American Automobiles" calendar? My wife gets it for me every year. It's great. It features selected amateur photos of abandoned cars. One each month with original market info on the vehicle.
