This is my truck, only took a couple hours to do it. The material is from Home Depot. It's called a gutter guard, comes in about 3-4' sections, maybe 8" wide. You'll also need JBweld quikweld, and some black zip ties. I got the idea. I didn't paint mine though, like he did. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
Questions about mesh grill to 98xlt4x4 and other people
Thanks for the info and advice.. Hopefully it will look alot better... one questoin though.. what is quikweld and do i have to use it to attch it to the grill.. or can ijust use zip ties?? another thing.. is quick weld a glue or some kind of adhesive?? Can i get it at home depot to? and will the mesh rust?? what happenes if i dont paint it??If i just want to leave it un painted will it rust?
yeah, what Ken said. The JBWeld will bond just about anything (metal, plastic, etc). Normal JBWeld dries in 4-6 hours, so use the Quikweld instead (3-4 minutes). Just cut the mesh, bend it to fit tightly on the back of the grill, and use spots of the jbweld to keep it in place. You'll have to hold it tight until it dries, unless you have some clamps or something.
The JBWeld comes in a small package with 2 tubes. You mix a little from each, and it'll be dry in a fwe minutes. Work quick, and don't get it on your clothes, skin, visible surfaces, or anything but the mesh and the back of the grill.
I would've taken pictures but I wasn't thinking. Good luck!
