Tranny replacement??
Just got off the phone with the garage. Said the tranny is cooked in our '94 Eddie Bauer Explorer with 160,000 mles. Guy said it would cost about $2200 to replace??? 
Part of the exhaust system must be removed too to remove the old one??
Is this price range accurate??

Not out of the range. I've heard of prices between $1500 to $2500. Some of the pricing probably is influenced by the warranty. I've heard of waranties going from 30 days or 1000 miles to 3 years or 30,000 miles.
