New to the diesels here...have an older Ford truck. The problem is with my gf's truck. An 2000 F250 4x4 diesel 60k. Lately, after starting the truck it will cut out. We have been able to drive it down the road some then it feels like it is bogging down, i.e. push the pedal down and no power, high rpms but still no power. Some of these times it has stalled. Is this from not letting it warm up enough or is there potentially some other lurking problem?
Check fuel filter, and system, and the air filter - if a diesel behaves like that there is usually a lack of either fuel or air happening. I have heard also of a diesel doing that after the exhaust was compressed by being hit on a log, so check that too. there really is no other way for that to happen, unless the computer has a fault, but that should generate a code.

There is a butterfly valve in the outlet side of the turbo that closes when cold to speed warmup. It could be causing your problem. Let it sit and idle a few minutes before driving off. If that doesn't cure it you have something else wrong with it.
