4x4 problem

4x4 problem
Just got defective header back from hedman. Back to 4x4 problem now. 4x4 doesnt engage. Fuses and switch are both OK. I think it is an electrical problem (corroded wire connections maybe?) Can someone post the wiring diagram for this and or tell me where to start the troubleshooting process for this. BTW the dash light for the 4x4 doesnt come on when switch is engaged. Its a 98 F150 with a 4.6

Any luck yet?
These can be pretty hard to diagnose even with a good scan tool etc.
How long has it been since it's worked?
Sometimes the motor on the back of the transfer case needs a little gentle persuasion with a hammer to get it working again.

Hasnt worked since I bought the truck. No power at transfer case motor. Should there be power there with switch on? Off? Are there any wiring connectors (bulkhead connectors) In the wheelwell or anywhere else that could possibly be corroded? I have also heard about two relays under the dash that I would like to check but dont know exactly which ones they are. I guess what im asking for is how the 4x4 system works, like turn the switch to 4hi sends current to gem which opens relay to feed power to motor, etc. This would definately help in trying to troubleshoot
