New diesel owner. My question what oil is being used in 02 F250 PSD as delivered. Also have checked 2 local auto parts stores and neither one is stocking oil marked for use in a diesel. Any recommendations please. Thanks
LAST EDITED ON 07-Nov-01 AT 05:42 AM (EST)[p]We use a Mobil diesel blend (10W40 I think) that has an anti scuff agent in it for breakin purposes at the factory and we add Lubrizol to the oil as it enters the engine as an anti foam agent. By the time the breakin oil is ready to be changed the anti scuff agent is no longer necessary. Shell Rotella and Motorcraft oils, over the counter, both have the anti foam agent already added (I'm sure other oils do too but I am unaware of which ones do and which ones don't).
We use Mobil Delvac as factory fill for our heavy diesels and it will work equally well in your PSD. If you can't find it in an autoparts store, try a heavy truck dealership or engine distributor. Truckstops will also have a large variety. Just be sure the API rating is a CG-4 or CH-4.
Also try Wal-Mart or K-Mart...believe it or not they also carry 15W40. Just woundering if you can not get 15W40 are you able to buy diesel local or do you have to drive to the interstate?
Will try Walmart. I am able to get diesel fuel locally but of course it is about 30 cents a gallon higher than the interstate. I travel the turnpike to get to the shopping mall with the wife so it isn't a problem to save the 30 cents.
