Well, the day has come. I've been really nice to my baby, fed him a steady diet of petrol & oil, fixed many many parts, and even tried to sell him nicely. He didn't play fair, so he's getting traded in for an import. I know, I know, it's not a nice thing to do to a bronco, but this one needs a lesson learned! Within a week the battery died, then the starter & starter solenoid died. Just got that fixed and on the way home the oil pump packed it in.
Here's the list since I bought him (all prices in CDN)
Initial purchase - $2800
PS Pump & Gearbox - $ 250
Tailgate, paint, parts - $1200
Rad - $ 300

Rear diff, axle spindles, front hubs, seals - $2750

that sucks to hear man. Why dont you take off the lift and sale it to me . lol I almost freaked out when you said 120$ for a battery, then i remembered its canadian, lol.

Wanna buy a bridge???? Just kidding, I know seems the bronco is a spoiled little brat sometimes, with all the wants and needs, I guess that's what trucks are all about. They keep you too busy and broke, to get in any real trouble. Don't hold it against Ford, any truck that is almost 14 years old, and has been used as a truck, will need work. Whether it speaks English or not is up to you, also if those same parts go out on an import, I would expect to spen twice the cash for those same parts...

Stress & frustration took over, I must confess. I mean, what other vehicle do you know that you have to basically remove the engine in order to take off the oil pan? What a pain it's been, both physical and financial. Oh well, I'm definately going to sell it, the choice is whether to fix the oil pump (have all the parts) or to flog it off as is.
Wow, I don't feel so bad now. My 87 was a $900 initial investment and I've almost tripled that in fixing it in just alittle over two years. Moneys not really the issue though as I don't mind working on it but it just consumes too much damn time. One thing I learned esp. with Broncos is you have learn to be resourceful finding quality parts for descent prices. If you don't or if you let some mechanic do every little thing to it, your pocketbook will be in a world of hurt.
