how hard is it to remove the and install the dash cap for a 1984 f-150, mine is cracked and trashed and i found one that is perfect in a junk yard, just wondering if this switch is gonna cause alot of swearing.

Not sure yet.I'm gonna have to do the same to my F-150.I plan on ordering one from *** though.I think there are numerous screws that you have to take out here and there, but other than that,it should come right off.The only thing is,if the one that you found is original,I can't express enough how careful you should be when removing and installing it on your truck...

Good luck.

yeah i found a truck in the junk yard that the interior is exactly the same as mine, except for the fact that this truck is automatic with 2 wheel drive and i have 4 speed 4x4. this dash pad is imaculant, i couldn't believe it when i saw it, i even left the windo slightly open on the junk truck so the dash don't crack til i get back for it..lol. i know there is a lot of screws and stuff, however my one friend said something about taking the glove box out and all kinds of dumb junk.

If you don't mind me asking, what's it gonna cost you at the pick n' pull?It sounds like you're gonna have to take it out,so that will help on the price some. The one that I'm looking at from L.M.C. Truck is $99.That's for all colors.

To take the dash pad off, all you need to do is remove the screws up by the windsheild, and remove about 3 screws that hold the insturment cluster trim on. Two screws that hold the radio trim on . and about 5 screws above the glove box.

2minute job at the most

Good Luck

yeah there are interior dies that you can get that spray out of a can, i know that most mustang restoration places carry these spray can dyes. try www.cjponyparts.com it is a local mustang parts store in my area, go in their online catalog and do a search for interior dyes or interior paints. you will find what you are looking for, you might not be able to get the proper color from them for a truck; however, you could contact them and get the contact info for their supplier so you could get the color you need for your truck.

The auto parts stores carry spray "paint" for plastics. Different chains carry diff brands and colors...keep looking. They also sell an "adhesion helper" that might be worthwhile, but I've heard guys say it isn't needed. First step is cleaning and grease removal I understand.
I bought a used dash for my 78 Grand Prix that I plan to spray.

dang, if you can get it for a good price that is quite a find. a couple years back when i was looking a junkyard quoted me $350 for a good dashboard since they are so rare to find undamaged. i went with one of those plastic covers, worked out great and a lot cheaper too. be awesome to have a "real" dashboard though, good luck. piece of cake to pull out.
